Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies? Yum. A sleeve of packaged Oreos? Yes, please. Put them together? An Oreo cream filled chocolate chip cookie.
This all started when I made brownie covered Oreos from a post on Pinterest, and wanted to put my own twist on it. (You know how I feel about creating unique versions of things…) The brownie version calls for a muffin tin to keep the batter from expanding, which is truly genius.
However, I only own one 12-cup pan making it very time consuming for me to keep filling and emptying the cookies to make enough for a large crowd. Substituting chocolate chip cookie dough led me to create a similar effect utilizing my baking sheets instead. The batter was stiff enough to avoid a runny mess, and my experiment revealed the perfect pocket for holding an Oreo in place. A cookie inside another cookie = success!
Ingredients:
Your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe (I used one from the back of the Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips bag!)
1 package of Oreos
Instructions:
Prepare chocolate chip cookie batter according to instructions.
Drop one tablespoon of dough (I used a cookie scoop) onto each Oreo. Using your hands, mold the batter around the cookie.
Bake 8-10 minutes, until lightly golden.
Eat and enjoy watching your guests try to figure out how you created this!
