Are you ready to be blown away? These crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, baked, melted, cheesy appetizer bites will take you less than five minutes to prepare, and use only two ingredients.
Mini fillo shells (same ones used in my bite-sized spanakopitas and baked mac and cheese cups!) come already prepared to fill. Simply place a dollop of your favorite spreadable Alouette cheese inside each vessel, bake until you get a slightly golden exterior and you’re ready to serve!
Offer your guests a variety by using a few different flavors, and if you’re up to adding a third ingredient (gasp!), you can garnish the tops with an indication of what’s inside—a sliver of sundried tomato, a slice of artichoke, etc. They even have sweeter options like cheesecake or berries and cream that would be delicious for dessert–perhaps with a few chocolate chips sprinkled in?
To make you feel even better about eating these, you can even play around with Alouette’s new line of lower calorie options to make this virtually guilt-free. (I don’t have any special arrangements with Alouette by the way–I just really love their product!)
Each container of cheese will fill about 24 shells (I usually find the fillo cups in packages of 12), so you can figure out your desired amounts based on the number of guests you’re having.
Ingredients:
1 (6.5 oz.) container Alouette spreadable cheese, any flavor
2 (12 count) boxes Athens Fillo Shells, in the freezer section
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350° and place your fillo shells on a baking sheet. Fill each shell with cheese.
Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown on the outside and warm on the inside.
Eat and enjoy with or without a garnish!
