One week to go! Can you believe it? That means 7 days closer to enjoying all That’s SO Jenn’s delicious red, white and blue recipes! This one in our countdown is based on a major fan favorite: S’mores. While the original execution is fairly simple (roast marshmallow, sandwich between graham and chocolate, eat and repeat…), we all get excited about new ways to enjoy this summertime dessert. During the winter, I gave you
a sticky, gooey, melty indoor campfire s’mores casserole, and for last year’s countdown I offered up skewers with red and blue marshmallow stars.
This time, I covered flat marshmallows (how cool!) in dark chocolate, then rolled them in crushed graham cracker crumbs with red, white and blue sprinkles. No need to roast or stack here! All the lovable components are together in one party-ready bite…on a stick!
For presentation, I filled a mason jar with color coordinated candies (Hershey’s patriotic kisses wrapped in blue foil with silver stars, along with red and white striped mints), then nestled in the sticks so they are propped out of the vessel. You can also place a piece of foam core inside a decorative bucket or flower pot, then push in each pop.
However you choose to display them, you can be sure your guests will be back for s’more! (So cheesy, but I couldn’t resist…) These are definitely a crowd pleaser!
Ingredients:
*Amounts will vary based on the size of your marshmallows*
1 package flat marshmallows (or regular)
1 (12 oz.) bag milk or dark chocolate chips
About 5 sheets of graham crackers
A few tablespoons red, white and blue sprinkles
You will also need: 6″ skewers
Instructions:
Place graham crackers in your food processor,
Pulse into crumbs,
And transfer to a bowl.
Add sprinkles.
Mix together.
Poke sticks through marshmallows.
Melt chocolate over a double broiler, as explained here.
Transfer chocolate to a bowl.
Then spread onto both sides of each marshmallow.
Roll in graham cracker mixture, using a spoon to help coat both sides.
Eat and enjoy having s’more than just one!
