That’s SO Jenn’s S’mores Balls

Friends, I’m happy to report my sweet tooth is back. It was touch and go for a while–the first time I turned my nose up at dessert Hubby asked if he should call the doctor–but I’m returning to my normal self.

While my main cravings remain all things savory/salty (sundried tomatoes, artichokes, olives, anything with tomato sauce…or just tomato sauce…I’ve literally drank it from a bowl, eggplant, roasted brussels sprouts, kale salad, air popped popcorn and all cheeses), that urge for at least a taste of something sugary has become difficult to resist.

In most cases, my daily dose of dark chocolate Hershey’s nuggets with almonds has put me at ease, while other days call for an entire sampling of Momofuku Milk Bar‘s finest, a selection of Wicked Whoopies whoopie pies (Thanks for the package, Steph!) or today’s dire need for something s’mores.

Sure, I could’ve popped one into the microwave and called it a day, but that would’ve left me without a blog post. Instead, I thought of a creative way to make this into something fun, then soldiered through the mouth-watering effort of photographing each step before tasting for myself. You’re welcome.

The first thing that came to mind was the marshmallow preparation for cereal treats, and I wondered if I could prepare these in a similar way. It worked! Take THAT pregnancy brain.

These addictive ball-shape treats involve the usual suspects: gooey marshmallow, melted milk chocolate and crunchy graham. They’re delicious when hardened in the fridge and even more irresistible warm and melty. I’ll refrain from the obvious ‘you’ll want some more’ joke here, but you will. Seriously.

Ingredients:

1 (16 oz.) package mini marshmallows

3 tablespoons butter or butter substitute

1 1/2 cups mini Hershey’s Kisses (eh what the heck, just throw in the whole bag!)

2 packages honey or cinnamon sugar graham crackers

Instructions:

Empty marshmallows into a heat-safe bowl.

Place one package graham crackers into an airtight bag.

Crush into crumbs using a kitchen mallet, ice cream scoop etc. (A food processor works well too–just not in a bag!)

Pour crumbs into melted marshmallow.

Stir together.

Add chocolate.

Mix well to incorporate.
