If you’re looking for a new way to serve apple pie (obviously…aren’t we all…) you’ll love this! Folded into individual dessert pouches, this recipe only requires two major ingredients, and has the illusion of being labor intensive, yet requires little effort to execute. Muahaha it’s the perfect plan!
I made these for our annual July 4th bash (hence the plate in the photo), and they were gobbled up immediately. All you’ll need are
wonton wrappers and apple pie filling with a little cinnamon sugar for good measure. When baked, they provide a subtle crunch followed by a soft, sweet, fruity center. Feel free to substitute any filling you’d like, and play around with cocoa powder, nutmeg or citrus zest in lieu of the cinnamon.
If you’re feeling really wild, serve them over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. With a little caramel drizzle, perhaps?
Ingredients:
1 package wonton wrappers
1 can apple pie filling
Cinnamon sugar (or equal parts cinnamon and sugar)
Nonstick cooking spray
Water for assembly
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425º. On a cutting board, dice apple pie filling into small pieces.
Lay wanton wrappers onto a parchment covered tray.
Place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
Using your finger, wet the perimeter of each wrapper with water to help it stick.
Press two opposite corners together.
Repeat with the remaining two opposite corners.
Spray with nonstick cooking spray and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Bake about 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
