Simple and Sweet Vanilla Frosting

5

Here’s a fun one for the weekend: make your own frosting. I know that container of pre-made stuff is easy to pull out of the pantry in a pinch, and those aresol containers are a time savor for accurately topping cupcakes. However, I’m sure we can all agree there’s nothing like the real deal.

I think one reason many of us steer clear of this concept is because it feels intimidating, but in reality, there isn’t a whole lot of effort required for such a great reward. Plus, if you don’t use it all at once, you can utilize leftovers for dipping pretzel sticks (have you tried this? It’s delicious!) or smearing onto a quick batch of sugar cookies before sprinkling them with colorful sugar. With only four ingredients, you can whip yourself up a sweet, vanilla delight to compliment any fresh baked cake in no time.

Ingredients:

2/3 cup soft butter

6 cups confectioners’ sugar

3 teaspoons vanilla extract

About 4 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and milk. Beat until spreadable.
Eat and enjoy over your favorite cake, cupcakes, cookies, brownies…
