Friends is literally one of my favorite TV shows of all times. Even after 10 plus years off the air, my brother and I still have full conversations using lines from the show (seriously, one of us will send a text, completely out of context, and respond back and forth without hesitation. It’s a gift, really.) I do the same with two of my good friends from college, Emily and Denise. We contact each other when one of our favorite episodes is on a rerun, and joke that we can listen to it from another room and still laugh because we can envision what’s going on. I even had the opportunity to meet some of the cast and see a live taping out in California during one of their last seasons.
Well one episode revolved around the character Monica, who played a chef, trying to replicate her friend Pheobe’s grandmother’s famous cookie recipe that had been burned in a fire. They spent the entire segment tasting different combinations and mixing various ingredients together until finally, Pheobe mentioned that her grandmother actually got the recipe from her French grandmother, “Nest-lay Tool-ouse-ah .”
Turns out, it was really the recipe on the back of the Nestle Tollhouse package of chocolate chips!

Anyway, my cousins just visited us from out-of-town this past weekend, and just as I do with all of my guests, I asked them specifically what they wanted me to prepare. Phyllis requested my French onion soup she just saw posted on That’s SO Jenn, Abby asked for peanut butter cup cookies (I swapped the Reese’s for truffles this time, YUM!), Mike said he was happy with our home-brewed beer and Maddie said she would like chocolate chip cookies with MnMs in them. Nestlay Toolouseah it is!
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12 oz.) package Nestle’ Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup MnMs (I swapped them for the chopped nuts from the original recipe)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl.
In a large mixer bowl beat butter,
Granulated sugar,
Brown sugar,
…and vanilla extract until creamy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Gradually beat in flour mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips
and MnMs.
Mix to incorporate.
Drop by rounded tablespoons (I used an ice cream scoop, obviously!) onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Eat and enjoy with your family or your favorite sitcom!
